Keep your carpet looking good for longer

After you’ve had your carpets professionally cleaned, there are several things you can do to keep them looking good. It’s important to continue to maintain your carpet’s cleanliness which will help to extend the life of your carpet.

I strongly recommend not walking on your carpet until the carpet has dried completely. I will put any furniture I move back in place.

Always attend to any spills as soon as they happen. The longer a spill remains, the harder it is to remove. Blot it to soak up as much as you can rather than rubbing which can cause the stain to spread and soak into the carpet fibres.

Keep carpets looking clean longer after a professional carpet cleaning by vacuuming regularly, whether you think the carpet needs it or not. Vacuuming removes dirt and particles you may not see. Vacuuming regularly also helps remove allergens and other pollutants carried inside.

Shoes carry bacteria into the home. If you remove your shoes as soon as you get indoors, you can stop the spread of bacteria, allergens and other contaminants on the carpet. A doormat is a great investment.

One of the best things you can do to prevent soiling and extend your carpet’s life is to have a carpet protectant applied after it’s freshly cleaned. A carpet protectant works to repel spills and dirt from penetrating the fibres. It’s important to have carpet protectant applied yearly as it wears off over time, especially in areas of high footfall.
